When flyClever May Actually Be Able to Help You Save on Airfare

[dropcap]F[/dropcap]lyClever – Suppose you have a long-haul flight coming up, a fixed departure and arrival airport, and a convenient time frame for travel.

You’ve searched all of your favorite search engines and have a few leads, but no great deals that particularly take your interest.

You could go through a travel agency, but this seems like an unnecessary hassle, and what if there is some secret that you’re missing?

Enter flyClever. This San Francisco company specializes in tailoring a flight itinerary to your travel preferences, and considering all possibilities to find the best possible deal for you.

Instead of comparing options yourself or going through an agency, flyClever caters to your individual needs and explores money-saving options such as long layovers, double connections, and airline partners.

I decided to submit a booking request to see how it works, because I do have a long-haul flight coming up over the next several months and have been having some issues finding something that suits me perfectly.

While I had found a couple of options, I wanted a second opinion just in case there was something I had missed!

I entered my departure and arrival hubs, gave a time period with flexible dates, noted that my itinerary will be for one adult, and mentioned that I am alright to fly with only carry-on luggage.

Since I’m pinching pennies this time without wishing to redeem a rewards flight, I selected Economy cabin for my itinerary.

Additionally, flyClever users are also able to select flexibility with airports, and/or note that they would like to redeem points or miles. Then, I entered my email address and waited for a response!

The advisors who work with flyClever are well traveled and experienced in the travel industry, being able to provide advice on lounge access, seating arrangements, and good stewardship of your points and miles.

Requesting a quote is completely free; you only pay when flyClever finds real savings for your itinerary.

That way, you assume no risk and only pay for advice that you plan to use, advice that results in real savings.

I received my response from Jeff at flyClever less than 36 hours later which included the best itinerary he could find within my parameters.

I was impressed; Jeff sent an inexpensive and efficient (enough) itinerary that aligned with my ideals for the trip, free of charge.

Since this itinerary isn’t difficult to find by myself (indeed, I had stumbled across this itinerary in my searches as well) nor does it require any special tricks or secrets, this one was on the house.

For more complicated itineraries I can see how flyClever would be very useful, especially for someone with less experience looking into various options including low cost carriers and award tickets.

Now, if I needed flyClever to provide further assistance, or if they found an exceptionally special deal for me, this would cost something.

More than likely, if I needed help managing my rewards for this itinerary, it would have required a bit more work on Jeff’s end and a few more bucks on mine.

But since this itinerary is pretty straight forward and I am flexible with this one, I’m all set to book!

It is nice to have a little validation, at least, and to have my itinerary checked over.
