The ten best destinations to travel in Brazil, according to Brazilians

Last week the ranking of the ten best cities for tourism in Brazil was published, according to the Brazilians themselves. The prize is awarded by the Brazilian website Best Destinations. In all, more than 15 thousand people voted, using the following criteria Cost/Benefit, Attractions, Receptivity/symphay, Gastronomy and Safety.

The awards were not held for two years, due to the pandemic. In the last few years, Brazilian internal tourism has had its great growth, due to restrictions in air and sea travel caused by the Covid virus, during the pandemic peaks.  Traveling within Brazil was safer and guaranteed that you would arrive at your desired destination without inconvenience or changes in the rules, as you can read in this report dated October 2020, from the website of the newspaper O Fluminense.

Among the chosen cities, only João Pessoa is a capital, from the state of Paraíba, in the northeast of Brazil. All the others are small, with activities related to ecotourism and nature. In the state of Minas Gerais there are two historic cities Diamantina and Tiradentes, both in the central region of the state. The city considered the safest was Pomerode in Santa Catarina, in the South of Brazil, which also had the city of Urubici listed in the ranking.

The top 10 destinations according to Brazilians are:

Chapada Diamantina

Alter do Chão (Santarém)

Diamantina

Lençóis Maranhenses

Jalapão

João Pessoa

Maraú Peninsula
