Singapure Airlines new first class suite unveiled!

Singapure Airlines today unveiled its highly-anticipated new cabin products which will be fitted to its Airbus 380 fleet starting from next month, following an extensive four-year development programme.

The new cabin products were displayed for the first time today at a media launch in Singapore Suntec convention center.

The research, design, development and installation of the new products on 19 Singapore Airlines A380s represent an investment of about USD850 million.

Singapore Airlines is the first airline in the world to introduce A380 Superjumbo Suites a decade ago, the Star Alliance member just released the second generation of its products on the A380.

With just six suites located at the front cabin of upper deck (re-located from main deck to upper deck).

There are much more space created and privacy is ensured! Stepping into their L-shaped suite,

passengers can relax in an elegant 21-inch wide Poltrona Frau leather armchair.

The swivel capability of the chair (between 135 and 270 degrees) with recline up to 45 degrees provides added flexibility for dining and relaxation.

There’s a massive 32 inch HD video panel, with electronically-controlled roller blinds to turn your suite into a cosy cocoon, an under-bench area to stow your carry-on bag, and a personal wardrobe.

Within reach of the recliner is a concealed stowage area containing the airline-supplied Bose noise cancelling headphones and new Lalique amenity kit, along with a pocket for your own knick-knacks ad plus a small thoughtfully-placed LED-lit mirror.

I must say I am impressed by the amount of the space offered in each suite. You can have the chair swivel between 135-270 degrees while the bed in full turned down position. The new Suites represents a clever use of space over the previous version.

Pictured below is Suites 1A and 2A combined, together they can combine into a double bed and double suite.

I asked the CEO, Mr Goh Choon Phong, he mentioned there will be no shower suite or bar onboard as “SIA’s customers prefer to have more space and privacy onboard.”

My Impression

I think it is a massive step up from the first generation of A380 Suites with better use of space.

There was a home and very cosy feeling when I stepped inside one of the Suites.

I immediately noticed the amount of space which makes a huge difference.

I can’t wait to try out the new Singapore Airlines Suites on A380.

Singapore Airlines will begin flying its new first class suites daily on the Airbus A380

between Singapore and Sydney (SQ221/SQ232) from December 18 2017.
