Maquiné Cave is located in the city of Cordisburgo, 43 km from Curvelo. The cave was discovered in 1825 by the farmer Joaquim Maria Maquiné, Seu Maquiné.
The cave is considered the cradle of Brazilian paleontology and has seven rooms with beautiful architectural forms, sculpted by the work of water over millennia.
It is also part of the Lund Route, together with Lapinha Caves, in Lagoa Santa, and Rei do Mato in Sete Lagoas.
It can be visited every day, from 8:30am to 5pm. It offers a good structure with parking, snack bar, restaur ant, handcraft shops, besides the cave, trails and a small museum.
The entrance to the Maquiné Cave costs R$25. Students, teachers and people over 60 pay half price. Tickets must be purchased at the site’s box office in cash, debit or credit card.
As the number of visitors is limited, the ideal is to schedule a visit in advance, which can be done via WhatsApp 31 99564-6656.
