Built at the end of the 19th century, the village, which has only 30 houses, is surrounded by beautiful waterfalls and is inserted in the Cerrado biome, with a remarkable presence of fauna and flora, which place it among the most beautiful natural paradises in the world.

In 2005 it was recognized by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve. Rare plants, wild animals, cave paintings, hiking trails, and an incomparable natural beauty 900 meters above sea level, in a rocky terrain, surround it.

Besides the few residences, the place has a church, 2 inns, and 2 restaurants that serve the best of Minas Gerais’ cuisine, known as one of the tastiest in Brazil.

The history of Vila do Biribiri began with a Textile Industry, which settled in the area in search of abundant water and cotton, as the region was a reference in the planting of this fiber at the time. It reached a workforce of 1200 employees and was shut down in the 1970s, due to the economic crisis.

Since then, the site has been preserved and strict access control is in place to ensure that the village maintains its history and charms.
