Healthcare technology company creates jobs after moving to Orlando

Job opportunities are increasing for the Lake Nona region in Orlando, which provides vacancies for health technology company Protean BioDiagnostics Inc. The new positions will include laboratory technologists, scientists, specialists in digital pathology and artificial intelligence, scientific coordinators and traditional business functions, such as customer service, sales and marketing and graphic design.

With the available laboratory space, proximity to an airport and close to other companies, the Orlando community has several of the characteristics that the owner, Dr. Anthony Magliocco desired for the company’s new location, so much so that he transferred the operations of his company and 15 employees for the University of Central Florida’s Lake Nona business incubator, according to the Orlando Business Journal.

Protean opened its new headquarters in Lake Nona in July and will more than double in size in the coming years, hiring mainly in the medical field, developing new testing and diagnostic procedures.

Salaries for these roles vary, with technicians starting at $ 20 or more an hour and pathologists earning more than $ 95 an hour, according to Biz Journals. In Orlando, most of these jobs pay more than the local average annual salary of $ 46,140, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
