Pies, Games, Music and Memories at the Great American Block Party

More than 1,500 people celebrated Independence Day during the Great American Block Party in Lake Nona Town Center.  Party goers worked up an appetite with carnival games, and an estimated 900 Sno cones were served during the festivities.

DJ Chuck Johnson played family favorites for the crowd while a bubble machine blew bubbles throughout the dance area.

As the sun was about to go down, competition heated up with the first ever Lake Nona pie tasting contest.  17 entrants brought their best to the table for judging by pastry Chef, Amy, from Canvas Restaurant and Chef Anthony from Chroma Modern Bar + Kitchen.

Winners:
First Place:  Rhys Lynn’s Beacon Bacon Bourbon Bonanza
Second Place: Chrystina Medina Cruz’s Blueberry, Strawberry Citrus Pie
Third Place:  Lauren Foertsch’s Lemon Blueberry Pie
The celebration ended in patriotic fashion with a grand display on The Beacon at Lake Nona Town Center.
